SaaS/Hosting
The Internet is used more and more by the enterprise to carry business critical traffic. For instance:
- Business applications, such as salesforce.com, are now available as a service through the Internet through the SaaS model. However, employees require the same quality of service whether the application is hosted over the Internet or within the enterprise Data Center.
- Components of SOA business applications start to use Internet-based Web services provided by business partners (e.g., stock information, resources availability) or technology partners (GoogleMaps for instance to display information on a geographical map). A full SOA transaction will be completed once data from the Internet-based Web services has been received and therefore the transaction performance over the Internet must be optimized.
- All enterprise use the Internet as a better way to directly communicate either with their customers or their partners. In order to do so, they host portals and Web applications within their Internet DMZ. An optimized response time is mandatory to satisfy customers and partners.
All these types of traffic (SaaS, Web services, customer/partner Web portals) require a high priority on a shared corporate Internet access. In order to fully manage their performance, Streamcore Internet Solutions automatically allocate bandwidth and give full visibility into how the Internet is being used:
- Give a high priority over the WAN to business Web applications by using advanced L7 HTTP traffic classification
- Prioritize any kind of traffic that matters the most for your business.
- Understand how WAN bandwidth is used and upgrade it only if business traffic needs it
- Limit automatically bandwidth allocated to recreational traffic when the access link is used by business related traffic.
