MANAGEMENT AND PROVISIONING
StreamSense allows organizations to manage and provision services over the WAN in an automated, adaptive and intuitive way. Different types of management are offered:
|
Build business-oriented services by managing sites and categories matching your IT organization |
|
Manage WAN infrastructure rules with automated provisioning tools |
|
Define groups of application rules to manage performance delivered to users |
|
Administer all StreamGroomers from a central point |
Business Services Management
StreamSense makes service management simple, intuitive, adaptive, and above all totally business-oriented. Indeed, StreamSense presents services in a business-oriented logical view mapped to the IT organization, no matter how many StreamGroomer appliances are deployed or where they are located. For instance, hundreds of sites can be managed and grouped per business units, even if the appliances are only installed on the main corporate and regional data centers.
This can be achieved by defining the sites to be managed and by assigning them to categories related to business units, geographic location, WAN access type, etc. When these categories have been defined, you can perform any provisioning task or look for any type of information in a very intuitive way. For instance, you can:
- Select in a report a subset of sites belonging to a specific business unit in a specific country
- Distribute a group of application rules to sites belonging to specific categories
- Follow business application performances per business unit or per country
Importing and managing information related to the WAN infrastructure (access link data rates, subnets, etc.) can be performed directly in the GUI or with an easy-to-use Excel spreadsheet and import/export feature.
WAN Infrastructure Management
StreamSense's unique provisioning features make it possible to configure all WAN infrastructure rules in just a few minutes. These rules automatically use the information defined for each site in the Business Service Database :
- Data rate and WAN access type
- Subnets
Moreover, a site-to-site traffic management matrix gives the ability to summarize the provisioning or to create hundreds of rules in one single mouse click.
Applications Management
Application delivery management is controlled using groups of rules that give acesss to per-application real-time monitoring and troubleshooting, long-term reporting, and advanced control features (advanced QoS, VoIP and Video control).
They enable consistent application classification, monitoring and QoS policy throughout the network. Adding an application or changing its priority takes just a few mouse clicks, and changes are applied immediately for all the sites using the impacted group of rules.
Application delivery management can be customized for each business unit or country using groups of rules that define application use for each country or business unit.
StreamGroomers Management
The StreamGroomer Manager manages all StreamGroomers using intuitive tools for centralized control: StreamGroomer status dashboard, Alarms log and Actions (software download, reboot, etc.) on lists of StreamGroomers.
Initial configuration and basic operations can be performed by plugging a USB key on a StreamGroomer and restarting it. Deploying a StreamGroomer is therefore very straightforward, and reconfiguring a StreamGroomer on a remote site without on-site IT staff is easy.
Also, StreamGroomers can easily be integrated into standard NMS tools (HP OpenView, BMC Patrol, InfoVista, etc.) to be supervised in a network map.
